The House

Our house is a 2-story, American Craftsman Bungalow which was built in the early 1920's.  There are 8 rooms, including a formal Dining Room, Living Room, Parlor (which we call the Library) and 2 bathes. There are 10 ft. ceilings down stairs and 9 ft. upstairs.  All of the original plaster work is still intact along with the beaded-board ceilings and walls.  All floors are hardwoods except for the bathrooms.  It really is a charming old farm house and we loved it from the minute we saw it.

  1. Got the third confirmation today that the house is in decent shape. We had our old house evaluated by a structural engineer a couple of years ago so we had him come out and look at this one. He confirmed the opinion of both our inspector and our contractor that the house is in excellent shape. The structure was built with rough-cut lumber milled from old growth trees. We have some moisture issues but gutters and some trenching and grading will take care of that. Biggest problem is the front porch which we knew would need work. Anyway Praise the Lord who continues to bless us with the house!
